The day at Esade was eye-opening, and it made me realize I didn't learn as much as I thought I did in my 3 years of university. However, today was insightful and it really allowed a deeper understanding of marketing that provided a different perspective. The day began with Professor Blanch, who gave a wonderful lecture on the perspective of marketing and how it should cater to the consumer and their needs rather than the needs of the company. Prior to the realization of this conclusion, we went through an experiment as a whole and I had become conscious to the fact I, as a beginner marketer, am not adept at recognizing the main tools needed to become a successful marketer yet. We were provided a scenario in which a rice seller, Ming Hua needed to capture more shares of the market, and we totally missed the big picture: the consumers needs.
The next lecturers were entrepreneurs who shared their venture failures and how it later
helped them succeed in their future ventures. This lecture was insightful, even if one isn't interested in becoming an entrepreneur or a business owner. Diez and Vallve talked about the success following the failure of their first venture, which is very unlike most successful business owners who only highlight the successes of their business without touching on the tribulations. It was refreshing lecture.
The fun doesn't end there, but on innovation ave, which is ESADE's most attention capturing aspect. It

looks like any other street, but littered down the path were design labs for business students which quickly became the highlight of the tour. Innovative spaces created not only for the students but also for the public to use and I think that's totally awesome. The FabLab, specificaly gives outsiders a chance to learn something they have a passion for, for free. It's an open space created for creatives and innovators and I think that's really neat! Overall, my day ESADE was eventful and eye opening, getting to walk amongst college students in Spain!
