Final Countdown

I woke up this morning, the last full day of being Barcelona, with a cold, headache, and sore throat. But I was ready, ready to continue my adventures in the mountains of Montserrat. We took a long bus ride to through the hills and the valleys of Barcelona to get to the monastery in the mountains. When we arrived I was awestruck. As we made out way up to the monastery, I kept looking to my left side, and everytime I looked I couldn't help but feel small. The galaxy is tiny and full of wonder, and here I am overlooking Barcelona from the mountains and the view was indescribable. I couldn't help but feel so small and lucky to experience such beautiful scenery with even better company.

When we met up with Alex to tour Montserrat, we realized Mass was in session. Although we didn't get to see the Black Madonna, we were met with something even more spectacular in the chapel. As security came around to tell me to remove my hat and put my phone away, the choir began singing in low hymns. Tears formed in my eyes because I was so moved and touched by the moment. It evoked such emotion that I was unable to suppress. How many people can say they've seen this view and experienced the hymning of the choir? Not many. It truly felt like the final countdown.

A little later we went to this restaurant filled with people that was reminiscent of a large cookout. People were everywhere grilling and it really showed a sense of community and camaraderie amongst the people. We were definitely the odd men out for once. It was packed with locals and there were no tourists besides ourselves. We indulged in tasty spring onions which got VERY messy, very fast.
