Barcelona is such a tech hub, and continues to groom itself into Europe's most self-sufficient tech start-up ecosystem in the southern region of Europe. Barcelona continues to attract entrepreneurs from around the world with companies like Barcelona Activa. Barcelona Activa is one of the the many tech incubators that helps entrepreneurs hone their skills and learn programs free of cost, and in return they only ask for entrepreneurs to succeed. They offer resources and networks that makes it easier for entrepreneurs to succeed. Companies like Barcelona Activa create a platform for budding and inspiring entrepreneurs who don't readily have the connections nor the resources to create a business.

After Barcelona Activa, we then ventured from modern to historical Barcelona in La Ramblas. We got to walk down the strip of stores that the Cheetah Girls once walked down. I considered La Ramblas to be the gateway of the Gothic Quarter, the further you walked down the strip the closer you got to Barcelona's history and past. The Gothic Quarter is a small piece of Catalonia's architectural and cultural past. Our tour guide Alex kept the tour very interesting and one could definitely infer he loves what he does; bringing information to people on the Catalan history. I also learned a bit about the political environment of Barcelona and specifically Catalonia and the political unrest amongst the Catalan people.
